Starting Off

A long time ago I wanted to be an author. Nothing has really changed about that - I still want to write a novel one day - but at the moment I'm concentrating on story through film. Either way, wanting to be an author is how I started learning about the art of Storytelling, so naturally I learned story structure from authors. Book authors however, aren't the only people out there with tips on how to tell a good story.

Here are a few links to the people I've learned a lot from, and who I believe have really valuable tips on storytelling.

John Brown

Story Fanatic

Script Shadow

  1. Rochelle, you are SOOO like me, this is crazy.

I have TONS of beginning of novels that I wrote when I was in my teens and that I keep in a big file in my drawer. I kept mimicking the style of JK Rowling, because then I used to read the Harry Potter books incessantly.

But then movies came into view, and storytellng and filmmaking began to mix with each other. Seriouly, what better job than story artist to play with all that stuff ?

By the way, I'm looking forward to your next posts ! This blog is a really cool initiative.
